What does the board do?

The Baker Food Co-op Board represents the member-owners and helps guide the long-term direction of the store.

Board responsibilities include:

  • Strategic planning
  • Financial oversight
  • Policy development
  • Supporting the store manager

What to expect

Time commitment

  • One meeting per month, usually 60–90 minutes
  • Some light reading before meetings
  • Optional committees or special projects

Term length

  • Board terms are two years
  • Elections are held each April
  • Terms are staggered for continuity
You don’t need special experience. Many directors simply care about the co-op and want to help.
